Rebecca Truman
I am a multi media sculptor working with resin and glass casting, papier mâché and textiles. I combine sculpture with film and text to create performance installations.
The themes of my work are based on lived experience which includes my 40 year career in the circus. I start with an intuitive connection to a particular media quality such as colour, reflection, light or form to express emotional or physical states.
My work is rooted in the space between the performer and the audience and how the relationship between private interior and public exterior worlds are told through stories, anecdotes, images and personal journeys.
These moments of noticing and making connections are mediated and materially explored through life casting natural and figurative motifs and forms.
